The Department of Vegetable Science has one teacher in each of the cadres, i.e., Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in teaching scheme, and is offering eleven undergraduate besides Saturday Farm Practical and RAWE and 21 postgraduate courses every year, which are taught successfully by these teachers regularly. Besides postgraduate courses, this department is contributing the teaching requirement of UG students in the College of Agriculture, Hisar, College of Agriculture, Kaul, College of Home Science and College of Agriculture Engineering. Since inception, this department has awarded Master and Doctorate degrees to 174 and 84 students, respectively. One teacher of this Department went to USA for overseas training course on "Post-harvest Technology of Fruits and Vegetables" under AHRD project. He successfully completed this training and delivered seminar in the department on the same topic. One Ph.D. student of this Department bagged Gold Medal and seven students cleared the NET and four ASRB. Six students from other states and two in-service form other country (Nepal) sought admission in M.Sc. degree programme under ICAR quota and completed their degree successfully. Four in-service candidates sought admission in Ph.D. through SRF. One of the teachers has received ICAR best teacher award and two teachers received university best teacher award
