Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology came into existence in October 1971 as a constituent department of the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities. Earlier the discipline of sociology was with the Department of Extension Education, College of Agriculture and in erstwhile Punjab Agricultural University, with the Department of Economics. Since, 1971 the Department has been fast developing to achieve excellence. Dr. M.L. Sharma was the founder Head of the Department followed by Dr. R.K. Punia, Dr. Raj Singh, Dr.Chander Bhan and  Dr. P. S. Malik.
