             1.     History and development of College:

The college of Agriculture, Kaul is an integral part and  accredited to  CCS HAU, Hisar. It was taken over from Kurukshetra University and  started in 1972 with the idea to impart quality and scientific trainin to students in the field of agriculture. The first admission to this college was made in 1974. Initially this college imparted education for the first years i.e. 1st and 2nd year of 5 year programme and after that, the students were migrated to the main campus at CCSHAU, Hisar for completion of their degree programme.  It  attained the status of a full fledged college after up-gradation  in 1983.  The first batch of B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture degree passed out in 1986. Till 2014 a total of 1128 students have graduated from this college.   At present the college has 206 students on roll including 36 girls with an annual intake of 61 students of which 3 are sponsored by ICAR on the basis of an all India entrance test. Class wise students strength is given below.   The college has a competent faculty of 15 teachers to impart quality education and 67 supporting non-teaching staff.

      4   Goal and Thrust areas

         Mandate of the College    

         To cater to the needs of Agricultural Education for the North-East part of Haryana

         To have better interaction between College of Agriculture, Hisar and this part of Haryana

      To produce competent Agricultural graduates with the knowledge of location specific problems

           with  complete  rural environment.

         Such other purposes as university authorities may direct from time to time

             5.     Scholarships and Stipends

   Scholarship:  The university awards merit scholarship to 25% students admitted against the Haryana Resident seats. The amount of scholarship is Rs. 800/- (Rs. 1200 for girls) to each student per month.

   Puran Anand Adlakha Merit Scholarship :  One scholarship of Rs. 300/- per month for the 3rd year student of B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag. for the most meritorious student.

   Stipend/InternshipStipends of value as prescribed from time to time (current Rs 8000/- ) per student per month are paid for a period of six months or for one semester of internship/RAWE programme.

              6.    Students' Achievements

            Gold Medals/Awards

   CCSHAU merit Gold medal is given annually at the time of convocation of the University to the student who secures highest overall grade point average /marks  in combined merit of both the colleges of agriculture at Kaul and Hisar and fulfills general rules for the award. The first batch of B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture degree passed out in 1986. Since then college of agriculture, Kaul honor board takes pride depicting 16 CCSHAU, Hisar Gold medals.

Achievements during 2013-14 academic year

    i)    Ms. Renu , A final Year student obtained highest OGPA  8.1/10.0.  She has become the first ever
    under  graduate student  to qualify CSIR- JRF examination introduced for the first time for enrolling students
    at  All India level in Integrated MSc-PhD programme. She will receive Rs 16000/ pm  fellowship.

ii)   Six students namely Rajwanti, Renu, Ravinder, Preeti Singh, Kapil Malik, and Vikas Kumar qualified in All
     India  ICAR- JRF cum M.Sc Entrance Examination.

iii)   One student Mr. Lakhshey Jindal was selected for PG Business management programme at
     MANAGE,  Hyderabad  while another Mr. Anil Chhokar selected for Commission in IAF.

iv)  One postgraduate M.Sc Student Mr. Jaswant Singh Khokhar  of the dept. of  Genetics & Plant Breeding
    who was an advisee of Dr. A K Sarial,  faculty member of COA,Kaul was selected  for BBSRC
     Ph. D   fellowship in Nottingham University, U.K.

                 Achievements in co-curricular and other fields

v)   A number of times students of this college have bagged best athletes titles in annual university sports meet
     and earned trophies.

vi)  A number of students have qualified in national competition for JRF/ admission and got  placements in
    Banks, Army, Sugar Industry, Seeds and Pesticides organizations besides, getting jobs in state department
    of agriculture.

             7.    Students education and trainings

 In addition to teaching, students have been imparted training on computer skill, personality development, practical crop production, RAWE and plant clinics from time to time.  The college has various extracurricular activities clubs like,

      9.    Faculty education and training:

A majority of the faculty members have been trained abroad in the field of their specialization for 3 months under HRD project of World Bank.  All faculty members have vast experience of their subject matter and have earned Ph. D degrees from highly reputed institute like IARI, HPKV, PAU, HAU etc.  Dr. D. P. Nandal worked 2 years abroad in Uganda while another faculty member Dr A. K. Sarial had been  abroad for 4 years as postdoctoral scientist at Texas Tech University, Lubbock under International Programme of Rice Biotechnology of the Rockefeller Foundation, USA and as an expatriate expert of Biometrics and Biotechnology under UNDP/World Bank sponsored project in Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia


10.  Faculty Awards and Recognitions


i)     One faculty member Dr A. K. Sarial  is a Gold Medalist from IARI, New Delhi and recipient of 2 national (ICAR) awards - Jawahar Lal Nehru and ICAR Recognition  for his outstanding scientific achievements in the development of World's first basmati hybrid Pusa RH 10 and the most popular World's longest grain basmati variety Pusa 1121. He was also awarded medal for his outstanding performance in co-curricular activities by  the Ministry of defense, National Cadet Corps, School Kamptee.  Nine of the 16 University Gold Medals bagged by COA, Kaul students belong to his elective subject Plant Breeding/Crop Improvement.

ii)  Three faculty members Dr. D. P. Nandal, Dr Devi Singh and Dr Labh Singh received the University Best teacher Awards.

iii)   Dr. O. P. Chaudhary  is recipient of "Karl  Von Frisch Gold Medal"

iv)   Dr. (Mrs) Uma Ahuja is a recipient of ICAR recognition award.

v)    Dr. Hari Om was awarded CCSHAU, Hisar V.D. Kashyap Gold Medal for best Ph. D
