The foundation stone of the college was laid down on Nov. 18, 1971. The local panchayat donated land for Agricultural School, which later on became a college. The university developed excellent facilities for research & teaching. A lot of recreation facilities are available on this campus. At the same time, keeping in view the university's plan to promote agricultural production, including animal husbandry through research and extension education it was also decided to promote this college for rice research. It has now become a regional campus of the university.
